EXPERIENCE

 

Freelance Interpreter-

1991-present. English to Spanish, Spanish to English consecutive and simultaneous interpretations of business meetings, conferences, court matters, seminars and expert consultations. Past experience includes conference and escort interpreting for international businesses in Ecuador. Recent experience includes court interpreting in various Michigan counties, and conference interpreting in Lansing and Detroit.

 

Interpreter Trainer for Lutheran Social Services of Michigan

3/2001-present. Interpreter trainer for a project of Lutheran Social Services of Michigan that involves recruiting and training refugees and asylees in Michigan to be community interpreters, thereby serving the demand for trained interpreters in the immigrant community.

 

Freelance Interpreter Trainer-

2001-present. In 9/ 2001 began a project with the State Court Administrators Office to train state court interpreters interested in becoming certified. Contract was awarded in 12/2001. Training started in 2/2002 and ran through 5/2002. In 4/2003, began SCAO Approved Orientations and Certification exam preparation courses.

 

Freelance Translator

1991-present. Native English speaker, translations of certificates, audio and visual materials, immigration documents, wills, employee manuals, training manuals, evidentiary letters, business letters, websites, forms, etc. from Spanish to English and English to Spanish (with native speaker proofreader). Areas of expertise are general language, legal documents and business/marketing. Clients include Domino’s Pizza and Jackson National Life.
